HiT And MiSS

I almost threw my paper down in disgust this morning when I saw Kylie on the cover of HiT again. It was another cover story and double page spread, almost identical to one only 2 & 1/2 months ago.

<------- Look at this! And not even 3 months apart. Cameron Adams is taking his Kylie fixation to extremes. It's like HiT is his own personal weblog or something.

The article was the biggest load ever. I had to stop reading several times in disgust. It was just another promo piece for Body Language, which was not only covered in the November 20 issue, but was completely unnecessary. I get the feeling CA cries himself to sleep over the fact the Body Language has flopped and is trying to mount an effort to get it back in the charts.

The tagline on the cover reads 'KYLIE DEFENSIVE: Kylie Minogue sticks up for her underperforming Body Language album'.

That's not a cover story! Who cares?! Body Language has flopped, let's move on and put someone else on the cover. Don't let Kylie come in and have a sook about an album released 3 months ago, and publish it! You have to wonder why CA thought that was a good idea. Oh yeah: HE'S IN LOVE WITH HER.

A web page I found a few years back, which was put up in 1999, here, is dedicated to Cameron Adams unhealthy obsession with Kylie. It's titled: Bias Case Study: To Much Minogue Adams!

And this was from 1999, when she didn't even have an album out! As the page notes:

Cameron Adams, 'Hit' editor and unofficial (or is that official?) publicist for Kylie Minogue, took his Kylie fixation to extremes with the Mushroom Records concert of 1999. This was, of course, capped off with a front page and interview article on the singer in the insert magazine.

Never content to let the most trivial reference to la Minogue pass without giving it a mention in his mag, Adams has managed to make Hit a veritable Kylie newsletter. One time he even managed to get her on the front page of the Herald Sun with a truly 'no news day' piece he wrote about how she was planning (or thinking about?) coming back to Australia to live.

That made me laugh. 5 years on and the situation is exactly the same. I think CA is one of those Kylie fans, who think every single thing she does is wondrous and go into denial when she's flopping. I have never ever seen a bad Kylie review in HiT, even for her very worst singles and albums.

I'm a giant Kylie fan, but CA turns me off her with all this propaganda. Which is obviously the opposite of what he's trying to achieve with this never ending campaign.

Shut up about Kylie, please!

Ok, we haven't even GOTTEN to the America's Sweetheart review.

It was quite confusing, because the written review didn't seem to correspond with the star rating (2 and a half). It was really for the most part quite positive, CA liked at least half the songs, but overall only gave it 2 1/2 and seemed disappointed with it. Fair enough, but I refuse to believe it's only worth 1/2 a star more than Bob The Bachelor's album. That just doesn't seem consistent at all. And of course, if Kylie had made it, it would be given 5 stars no problem.

I mean, according to his rating system, Body Language is twice as good as AS. Only an insane Kylie lover could say that.
